What is Breast Cancer Awareness Month?
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is held every year from the 1st to the 31st of October worldwide and is a time to create and spread awareness about breast cancer, encourage testing and honour those who have been affected by it. Data from Breast Cancer UK shows that 1 in 7 women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Furthermore, at least 30% of breast cancer cases in the UK are preventable through lifestyle changes — this equates to around 17,000 cases every year.
Breast cancer charities in the UK and around the world make efforts each year to bring much-needed awareness and attention to this health issue.
