Minifigure Christmas Tree Baubles

Wondering how you can put all the LEGO Minifigures your little ones have been collecting over the years to good use? Why not turn them into some whimsical baubles you can hang on the Christmas tree? This holiday craft requires minimal materials and is a great way to repurpose old toys & art supplies.

You will need:

  • LEGO Minifigures (preferably Christmas-themed ones)
  • Clear fillable baubles
  • Pompoms or glitter
  • Double-sided foam tape
  • Ribbon

Step 1: Pop open the baubles and place a square of double-sided foam tape on the bottom of one of the halves.

Step 2: Press the Minifigure onto the double-sided tape and adjust their pose however you like.

Step 3: Add as many pom poms or glitter as you want and close the bauble.

Step 4: Thread some ribbon through the hole at the top of the bauble and join the two ends together to create a loop.

All that’s left to do is hang your bauble onto the Christmas tree! If youโ€™re having a hard time finding some appropriate Minifigures to use for your LEGO Christmas tree ornaments, the children’s toy company offers a LEGO City Advent Calendar that comes with 24 festive characters and mini-builds that we think will be the perfect fit for the baubles. The advent calendar retails for only ยฃ19.99 and is ranked one of the best LEGO advent calendars to buy this holiday season by Radio Times.

Tip: To build up the excitement for the big day, you can have the little ones make Christmas baubles each day with the Minifigures they get from the advent calendar.

Mini LEGO Christmas Tree

Two mini LEGO Christmas trees standing on a desk next to books and stationary

According to an article by Mirror, in 2022 a couple of LEGO fans created โ€œan entire wall, fireplace and tree from the small plastic pieces in their living roomโ€ as part of their annual Christmas tradition. As amazing as a life-size LEGO Christmas tree would be, it’s better to start small. Luckily we have a pint-sized craft that’ll be the perfect starting point for aspiring LEGO builders! This mini LEGO Christmas tree can be constructed using leftover LEGO bricks lying around the house and would look great on the mantle or as a Christmas tree ornament.

You will need:

  • 13 round 1x1 plates in any colour
  • 1 yellow 1x1 brick
  • 1 brown 2x4 brick
  • 2 brown 2x2 bricks
  • 1 green 2x2 jumper plate
  • 2 green 1x4 bricks
  • 4 green 2x3 bricks
  • 4 green 2x4 bricks
  • 5 green 1x2 bricks
  • 5 green 2x2 bricks

Step 1: Stack the two brown 2x2 bricks on top of one another. Then place the brown 2x4 brick on top of the stack, ensuring it’s centred. This will create the tree trunk.

Step 2: Place a green 2x2 brick in the centre of the brown 2x4 brick. Then place a green 2x4 brick on either side of it.

Step 3: To create the next row, place another green 2x4 brick on top of the green 2x2 brick. Then place a green 1x4 brick sideways on either side of it such that the 1x4 bricks stick out on both sides. Finish the row by placing a green 1x2 brick next to each 1x4 brick.

Step 4: Create two more rows centred on top of the previous row using four green 2x3 bricks (two for each row).

Step 5: Place a green 2x4 brick sideways on top of the previous two rows, ensuring that it is centred and overhanging. Then place a green 1x2 brick on either side of the 2x4 brick.

Step 6: Create the next row by placing two green 2x2 bricks on top of the previous one.

Step 7: Create the last row by placing a green 2x2 brick centred on top of the previous one. Place the green jumper plate on top of the 2x2 brick.

Step 8: No Christmas tree is complete without its star! Top your Christmas tree off with the yellow 1x1 brick. Then use the round 1x1 plates to decorate the bricks sticking out from the tree.

Having a hard time putting this little tree together? We here at LDV understand that not everyone is a master at building with LEGO. So we’ve done a little digging and found the perfect alternative. The LEGO Christmas Tree comes with illustrated instructions and gives you the option to build one big tree or two little ones. Available for ยฃ39.99, this LEGO kit will make the perfect centrepiece for your dining table or on top of the mantle.

Tip: Our homemade Christmas tree can be turned into an ornament for the real one! All you have to do is glue some ribbon onto the back of it and let it dry.

LEGO Brick Christmas Presents

A set of six multicoloured DUPLO presents standing together on a black table

Does the space under the Christmas tree look a little empty? Why not keep it warm for Santa by filling it up with some LEGO Christmas presents? If your little ones are avid collectors of LEGO then finding the bricks to make these adorable presents will be a piece of cake. These faux presents can be made from LEGO bricks or the DUPLO ones. It all depends on what you have in stock.

You will need:

  • 2 base plates
  • LEGO bricks

Step 1: Start by laying down a base plate. Then line its edges using rows of LEGO bricks. You can follow a pattern similar to how bricks are laid on a wall.

Step 2: The size of the present will depend on the number of bricks you use and the amount you have. Stack as many rows as you want before using another base plate to top off the present.

Step 3: Decorate the base by using different coloured bricks to create patterns for the wrapping paper. Alternatively, you can stack a single colour on two of the sides and along the top to create the ribbon.

Creating these LEGO presents takes quite a lot of LEGO bricks. If you need some more just to cover up some empty spots, hop on to the LEGO online store and order a Large Creative Brick Box. It comes with 790 bricks in a wide variety of colours and only retails for ยฃ45. Plus you can use a LEGO discount code to help you cover the delivery fees.

Tip: You can hide gifts inside and have the little ones pull apart the LEGO bricks to find them. It’s a great way to save on wrapping paper and you can reuse the bricks again next year!
