The health benefits start from 30 seconds and are delivered at around 2 minutes, beyond that it’s your own mindset practice and down to experience. When you first start out, keep the temperature warmer, around 12-16°c, and keep to 1 minute or feel for a shiver response. It’s important to cold adapt slowly (in a few days or sessions) and keep the experience positive to avoid unnecessary cold shock or a negative experience. Always exit whilst you feel good. Frequency is the key, daily dips are not necessary (and still encourage if you’re feeling good), aim for around 3 times per week, each at 2 minutes.
The filter must be cleaned (rinsed off) every few weeks or months depending on how heavily you use it, the filter cartridge must be replaced somewhere around 12-18 months depending on how heavily it is used. Other than that, you’re all set.
