Informative Fun Family Activities For Easter 2025

Easter and the Easter school holidays are upon us, with the school holidays taking place from the 7th to the 21st of April, and Easter from the 18th to the 20th of April. Families will be spending more quality time together and will likely need suggestions on fun family activities for Easter. Thankfully, you won’t need to scramble to find ways to keep everyone busy and entertained over this two-week period.
Something else you won’t have to worry about is the cost. Nationwide Easter expenditure is predicted to be £1.5 billion this year, according to Finder. While spending money during Easter is somewhat unavoidable, we will provide ways to make it slightly cheaper.

5 Easter Holiday Activities For Kids
In a 2024 article from The Independent reporting on a survey released just before the Easter holidays, it was found that families were expected to spend £3,000 entertaining children during school holidays that year. This amount was an estimate per child and consisted of costs for streaming services, movies, sports activities, days out, eating out, books and more. That is a lot of money but there are ways to save. Here are 5 activities that you can do at home for free or at reasonable costs:
1. Easter egg hunt
What is Easter without an Easter egg hunt, right? This can be done inside the house, in the garden or at a local park. Easter egg hunts can be fun and interactive for children of all ages. Good Housekeeping suggests some fun ways to do this such as:
- Stamping the eggs with letters to spell out names or a word that the family has to solve.
- Swapping candy eggs out for egg-shaped coupons that the family can exchange for fun activities.
- Turn the activity into a scavenger hunt by providing clues and maps that take the hunters to different places.

2. Obstacle course
You can create games that will not only provide fun but actively engage children. Here are some fun ideas for obstacle courses that can be done with objects from around the house or with small purchases:
- Egg race - Have a race where the children have to race to the finish line while holding an egg with a spoon. “This is a fun and challenging game because they have to focus on not dropping the egg while trying to win the race,” says Marylyn Ncube.
- Egg toss - Place buckets or baskets at different distances and throw Easter eggs into them.
- Easter bunny race - Have a race where children can only hop like a bunny to the finish line, meaning no walking or running.
- Egg balance - Place plastic eggs on the children’s heads to balance them. Those whose eggs fall are out of the game.
3. Picnic
This one is simple yet a favourite. You can plan a picnic in the garden or a park with your children and all their favourite foods. To make it more festive, extend an invitation to friends or classmates and have an Easter potluck.
4. Camping
If the weather permits, get the children outside for a camping session in the garden. To make it Easter-themed, you can decorate the tent with Easter eggs and decorations. This is more of an activity to keep the children entertained during the school holidays. If you are looking for affordable outdoor and indoor tents, B&Q, Amazon and Ikea offer a wide range at great prices and you can save further on with our discount codes.
5. Crafting
Have the children create the Easter decorations and Easter egg baskets, and decorate eggs which can be used for Easter games. For decorations, you can print out Easter images that they can colour in or paint and then hang up. These are supplies that are usually readily available in the house but if you need to purchase a few extra art supplies, you can use our Stationery discount codes for savings.
For Easter egg decorating, you can boil some eggs from the fridge and paint them. You can also buy egg decoration kits that come packed with all the supplies you need for this activity, making them a budget-friendly option.
