Enjoy A Slab Of The Most Popular Chocolate

Milk chocolate comes with a long history behind it. Historians believe that chocolate was first used as a ceremonial beverage in 1500 BC by the Olmecs who passed their knowledge on to the Maya and Aztecs. Eventually chocolate made its way into Europe where in 1847 a British chocolatier made the first-ever chocolate bar. A Swiss chocolatier then alternated the recipe and added powdered milk to create what we know as milk chocolate today.

Introducing The Best Type Of Chocolate

Originally the only type of chocolate available until 1689, dark chocolate is the oldest chocolate around. After the invention of milk chocolate, dark chocolate lost its popularity until the 20th century when its health benefits were recognised. Now over 7.2 million tons of dark chocolate are consumed each year and, when eaten in moderation, it is considered an integral part of a healthy diet. Known to remarkably reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes, it’s easy to see why dark chocolate is the best type of chocolate.

Nothing Beats Homemade White Chocolate

The history behind where white chocolate originally came from is largely unknown but what we do know is that white chocolate isn’t actually chocolate. In order to be considered chocolate, it must contain cocoa solids and white chocolate in fact does not. What this versatile chocolate does contain is sugar, cocoa butter and powdered milk, which you can find at your local grocery store.

Recreating it is fairly easy, but if youโ€™re not the best chocolatier there’s no shame in ordering a sharing box from Conscious Chocolate.
