There are three ways to buy a Turnbull & Asser shirt, and which one suits you depends on how particular you are about fit and how long you can wait.
Ready to wear. The quickest option, sorted into four fits. Regular fit gives a little more room, tailored fit has a slimmer profile, and the weekend and holiday fits are cut with straight side seams so they can be worn untucked. Collars include the house Classic T&A shape alongside Kent, Derby, Dorset and button down styles, so it is worth filtering by collar as well as size.
Made to Measure. You can order these online. The shirt starts from a standard sized base pattern that is then adjusted to your measurements, and it takes up to 3 weeks to make. A Made to Measure shirt is also the only kind you can have monogrammed online: up to three letters, stitched by hand in one of four fonts, in red, white, black or blue thread, on the chest, the body or either cuff. A monogram adds 7 to 10 working days. Neither Made to Measure nor monogrammed shirts can be returned, so check your measurements carefully before ordering.
Bespoke. The fully personal service is run from the Jermyn Street shop, and it is best to book an appointment by phone or email first so the bespoke team can prepare. It covers shirts and ties, and pyjamas and dressing gowns can be made too. A first bespoke order has a minimum of four shirts. If you can't get to London, the brand also holds By Appointment events in other cities through the year.
The Jermyn Street shop also handles alterations. Shortening sleeves or trousers takes up to 3 working days, and the tailors can replace worn collars and cuffs on Turnbull shirts you already own.
